SCARBOROUGH, Maine (January 26, 2015) – Crossroads was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $200,000 from the Next Generation Foundation of Maine. The grant will support the buildings that house its long-term treatment facilities, the Boulton Center for Women and Children and Cumberland Commons in Windham and the Portland Back Cove Residential Program facility in Portland. The funds will be used for facility repairs and capital improvements.
“Alcoholism and drug addiction are fatal diseases that respond to treatment just like any other disease,” says Mary Offutt, director for the Next Generation Foundation. “Unfortunately, funding and reimbursement for treatment is uneven, unlike other diseases. The Next Generation Foundation is pleased to support Crossroads with a grant to fix ailing facilities at three locations in Southern Maine.”
“A grant like this one from the Next Generation Foundation only helps Crossroads to improve its effectiveness,” says Shannon Trainor. “Crossroads has always prided itself in maintaining the highest quality facilities for its clients. This grant will allow us to make some much-needed improvements to our facilities while continuing to provide the safe, comfortable environment in which our clients can find recovery from alcohol and drug addiction.”
