Categories: Giving, News

Find something wonderful for Mom or yourself while supporting women struggling with addiction and mental health issues at Crossroads for Women’s first annual Online Auction fundraiser. Bidders can get great deals on original art, jewelry, gifts for the home and garden, and much, much more from April 9th through April 28th by placing a bid at www.biddingforgood.com/crossroadsforwomen.

The online auction runs from 8:00am on April 9th through 8:00pm on April 28th, giving everyone enough time to shop for Mom and get items before Mother’s Day. (Of course, we have items that everyone can enjoy, even if it’s not for a mom!) Items up for bid include gym memberships, gift certificates for dining, New England Patriots tickets, a social media consultation, spa services, tickets to the Downeaster and much more.

Money raised by the auction will go toward helping women and their families start new, healthy and productive lives in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction as well as mental health struggles.

  1. Hello Crossroads for Women Blog Staff,

I work for Hazelden coordinating their blog and we have conversed a few times (your blog is actually listed in the Hazelden Blog roll) I wanted to make you aware that the book “When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story,” published by Hazelden, has been made into a CBS-TV Hallmark Hall of Fame movie staring Winona Ryder.

Scheduled to air April 25 at 9 p.m. (EST) on the Hallmark Channel, the brings to life the love between Lois, co-founder of Al-Anon, and her alcoholic husband Bill (portrayed by actor Barry Pepper). After her husband took control of his alcoholism through the help of a fellow recovering alcoholic, Lois engaged the wives of the men in Bill’s AA program — understanding that addiction is a family disease and everyone could benefit from support in a Twelve Step program. She founded Al-Anon in 1951, helping millions of families from the devastation of alcohol and other drugs.

Check out this YouTube clip about “When Love Is Not Enough” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVCYeL8Uv8s&feature=youtube_gdata. In addition to the national broadcast, Hazelden has released a special edition of the book, which we can provide for you. We also have high-resolution images of Winona Ryder as Lois Wilson to share. Please visit the Hallmark site http://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/article%7C10001%7C10051%7C/HallmarkSite/HallmarkHallOfFame/HHOF_TOP to learn more.

I have a copy of the book “When Love Is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story,” that I am happy to FedEx to you folks.

We’d love it if you could share your thoughts on it and possibly on Winona’s portrayal of Lois Wilson. Let me know if you’d like a copy and I’ll make sure you have in in a few days.
    Thanks!
