Categories: Addiction, Inspiration, Mental Health, Prevention, Treatment

On Wednesday, May 20, 2015, Crossroads will honor six individuals who have committed themselves to raising awareness, promoting prevention and delivering treatment as an alternative to the pain of addiction to alcohol and other substances at its 2nd Annual Community Awards Breakfast.

This year Crossroads will be honoring the following community leaders:

CAB Photo winners
Clockwise from top left: Tracy Sabol, Mike Stephenson, Merideth Norris, D.O., Chief Judge Nancy Torresen, Stephen Cotreau and Tyler Brinkmann.

Tracy Sabol, Media Leader
Tracy Sabol anchors the 5pm and 6pm newscasts at WMTW-8. In addition, Tracy reports and produces Health Headlines, a daily health segment on WMTW-8 News at 5, and she produces the award-winning Heart Health 8, a monthly segment focusing on heart health related issues in partnership with the American Heart Association. Tracy lives in Falmouth with her son Chase and daughter Logan.

Mike Stephenson, Business Leader
Mike Stephenson moved to Maine in 2010 after purchasing National Telephone & Technology from a long-time friend and business acquaintance. When Mike bought NT&T, he felt it was important to invest in the local community and local nonprofits, especially those who are customers. Mike contributes to the local community as president of Buy Local Scarborough and a patron and supporter of Crossroads. He is also a volunteer firefighter and Hazmat team member in his spare time.

Merideth Norris, D.O., Medical Leader
Dr Norris has been working in the field of mental health since she was 19 years old and worked as a research assistant for a trauma psychiatrist. The widespread lack of mental health care in Maine, combined with her own background in the field, resulted in a strong psychiatric and addiction slant to her work in primary care. She is board certified in Osteopathic Family Medicine, Addiction Medicine, and Obesity Medicine. She is the medical director of Grace Street Services, CAP Quality Care and Spectrum Health. She also has a private practice in Kennebunk, where she treats chronic pain, addiction, obesity, and anything else people need help changing.

Tyler Brinkmann, Community Leader
Tyler Brinkmann is an upstanding business leader and member of the recovery community within Portland, ME.  He owns and operates two sober houses – The Valley House and The Greenhouse – as well as a small recycling business, Marathon Recycling. Tyler is also a ten-time marathon / triathlete.

Stephen Cotreau, Addiction Leader
Steve Cotreau, LADC, CCS, MHRT-C, is the program manager for the Portland Recovery Community Center (PRCC). In long-term recovery, Steve recently celebrated 25 years of sobriety. He has worked in the substance abuse and mental health field for over 20 years and is most passionate about his current role at PRCC because “people in recovery are amazing.”

Chief Judge Nancy Torresen, Legal Leader
Judge Torresen, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine, is a kind and very compassionate human being who cares deeply about people. She also happens to be a great judge. Judge Torresen is always genuinely interested in the well-being of the high risk offenders in our drug court. And she works very hard to understand addiction by getting close to it, both in drug court, but also through frequent trainings and in the community, attending 12-step meetings and service projects at Milestone.

Please join us in congratulating and honoring these inspiring leaders and allies in the field of addiction treatment.

Thank You

This was definitely a life changing experience. The staff was wonderful and I am leaving here sober, happy and healthy. I thank everyone for their love and care.”
