CAMP Family Engagement: Focus on the Family
Crossroads’ Children And Mothers Program (CAMP) believes that focusing on the client’s family as a whole must be a part of a woman’s recovery journey. In treatment, women will develop a better understanding of their relationships with family members. Family therapy with the client, her family supports and her clinician is part of the treatment program.
In addition, after working with each client to identify family supports, Crossroads reaches out to those supports to provide information about the program and the recovery process. By obtaining a better understanding of the disease of substance use disorder, family members are able to provide support for their loved one, understand their own role in her recovery and obtain the support they need.
Family Day is held weekly where family members are invited to attend a clinician-facilitated group with other family members where they may learn about substance use disorder, understand helpful boundaries, and provide support for one another. Family Day includes a visit with their loved one. We can assist women in visiting with children and family members who may live too far away to realistically visit the program through electronic communication such as Skype.
