Shannon Trainor, LCSW, CCS

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Shannon has served as Crossroads’ CEO since 2013. A licensed clinician who has held leadership roles in the behavioral health field for over 15 years, Shannon oversees the administrative and programmatic functions for the entire agency. Shannon has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental health and substance use issues and has worked as a clinical director in both outpatient and residential facilities prior to joining Crossroads.

Mary Anne Roy, Psy.D., CCS

CHIEF CLINICAL OFFICER

Dr. Roy is a licensed psychologist and certified clinical supervisor who has expertise in the co-occurring treatment of women with addiction. Her extensive career in the mental health and addiction field has provided her with the experience and knowledge necessary to provide strong leadership and direction throughout Crossroads’ continuum of care. As CCO, Dr. Roy oversees all clinical operations of the organization which includes multiple outpatient and inpatient programs.

Lesley Rawlings

CHIEF MARKETING & DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Lesley oversees all fundraising and admissions for Crossroads and manages a comprehensive and strategic marketing plan that supports the organization’s vision and goals. She brings 25 years of experience as a sales and marketing executive and over 20 years as a fundraising professional. Lesley works with individual donors, corporations and foundations in securing philanthropic support with a focus on funding client programs and services. An avid supporter of access to quality care, Lesley is committed to the mission and clients of Crossroads.

Nicole Federico

HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR

For over 19 years, Nicole has provided strategic leadership, employee/labor relations and workforce development expertise in several of her roles as a human resources manager. Nicole comes to Crossroads with a passion for building a workforce that aligns with the mission of the organization and serves to meet the staff and clients in all levels of care. Prior to joining Crossroads, Nicole served as a Senior Resources Manager with the Maine Department of Transportation. Nicole holds a MS in Organizational Leadership and is SHRM certified.

Laura Merten

Laura Merten, JD

DIRECTOR OF COMPLIANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT

Since 2020, Laura has served as Crossroads’ Director of Compliance and Risk Management – overseeing all aspects of compliance and risk management to ensure adherence to state and federal licenses, contracts and CARF standards. In 2021, Laura joined the Executive team and successfully brought the organization through yet another 3-year CARF accreditation award. Laura previously spent 7 years at another behavioral health treatment center providing her excellent organizational skills in supporting the organization in companywide enhancements with their clinical record requests and administration. Since 1998, Laura has served in various roles at nonprofits throughout the Northeast in both clinical and management capacities.

Deborah M. Giacomantonio, CPA

FINANCE DIRECTOR

Deb oversees all aspects of the finance and accounting departments for Crossroads including overseeing the billing department. A dedicated professional with over 30 years as a financial leader providing financial planning, AP management, creating finance models and forecasts to recommend informed business decisions. For 18 years Deb led the finance department for a Southern Maine nonprofit and has held leadership roles at local for-profit companies. Deb is committed to building relationships and partnerships in her leadership role and serves on the executive team for Crossroads.

Jonathan Fellers medical director

Jonathan C. Fellers, MD

MEDICAL DIRECTOR

As a board-certified Addiction Psychiatrist, Dr. Fellers serves as the medical director who works with our clients, their families, and the health care system to promote high-quality evidence-based screening, assessment, and treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Addiction involves both biology and psychology, and Dr. Fellers takes a particular interest in helping disentangle this complexity. Dr. Fellers completed his fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry in 2013 and two residencies at the University of California, San Francisco and University of Virginia Health System. A graduate of Cornell Medical College in 2002, Dr. Fellers is affiliated with both Maine Behavioral Healthcare, Spring Harbor Hospital, and Maine Medical Center.

Heather Beaulieu

Heather Beaulieu, RN

PROGRAMS NURSE

As the programs nurse for the Back Cove Women’s Residential Program, Children and Mothers Program and our Partial Hospitalization Program, Heather oversees the medical review of clients admitting to treatment to ensure stability prior to and at admission. Often she will meet with clients to identify any health concerns that need monitoring or may interfere with the treatment process and communicate this information, in conjunction with the medical director, clinical staff and program staff. She coordinates with clients’ medical providers to ensure a strong continuum of care while a client is in treatment and prepares for their discharge. Heather also provides training and education to residential staff on current medical practices and protocols; educates treatment staff in universal precautions and infectious disease management. Heather has been providing nursing care since 2018 serving clients in correctional psychiatric facilities for adult women and adolescents.

Tonya Spaulding

Tonya Spaulding, RDN, LD

DIETITIAN

Tonya specializes in working with clients with eating disorders by providing Medical Nutrition Therapy and nutrition counseling using evidence-based scientific research including Health at Every Size and non-dieting principles. Tonya has worked in the nutrition field for over 20 years and for the last 10 years working directly with eating disorder clients. Tonya utilizes the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process which follows a systematic approach to providing high-quality nutrition care through assessment, nutrition diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation. Tonya completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Health Sciences degree from Rutgers University. She completed her dietetic supervised practices in multiple facilities in New England including, Davita Dialysis in Boston Massachusetts, The New England Eating Disorders and Oncology Programs at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, York County Community Action in Auburn, Maine, and St. Mary’s Regional Health Center in Lewiston, Maine.

Back Cove Women’s Residential Program

Sam oversees all clinical and operations management for the Back Cove Women’s Residential Program. In her role supporting clients with co-occurring addiction and eating disorders. Sam guides the program staff with every admission, clinical intervention, and medical and dietary treatment services. Sam brings tremendous compassion and experience to her role and has worked in the behavioral health treatment field since 2011. Sam has direct knowledge of supporting adult clients with pervasive mental illness and traumatic brain injuries while running multiple residential programs throughout Maine.

Chloe Brzycki

Chloe provides leadership, training, and oversight to the Crossroads admissions department for all levels of care and ensures that inquiries from potential clients, family members and referral sources are responded to in a respectful and timely manner. Chloe delivers individual and group supervision to the Admissions Specialists and partners with all program leaders and the executive leadership team to prioritize access to treatment in a manner that is supportive of client, agency, and regulatory requirements. Chloe shares her expertise in management of clinical case reviews and supports all staff with electronic health record trainings and guidance. Since 2015 Chloe has served in leadership roles managing residential programs in Maine to individuals with traumatic brain injuries.

Samantha Clinton, CADC

PROGRAM MANAGER
Children and Mothers Program

Samantha is responsible for the overall clinical and administrative supervision and oversight of the Children and Mothers Residential program (CAMP) and staff, including individual and group counseling, case management for mothers, children and families, Family engagement and client transportation needs. Samantha also oversees daily operations of the therapeutic milieu in accordance with established schedules and guidelines. She partners with the Clinical Supervisor(s) of clinical staff and provides clinical supervision to the Milieu Coordinator and facilitates treatment team meetings providing input regarding assessment, service planning and recommendations for aftercare. Samantha has held leadership positions in the addiction and behavioral health field since 2016 providing clinical care to individuals, groups and case management services in Maine, New Hampshire and Florida.

OUTPATIENT CLINICAL SUPERVISOR

For over 10 years Sarah has worked as a clinician supporting men and women with co-occurring disorders in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. Sarah has extensive experience working with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, chronic relapse, trauma and PTSD. As the outpatient clinical supervisor, Sarah manages and supervises the clinicians in our Greater Portland Counseling Center who run the IOP programs and individual counseling for both mental health and substance use disorders. Sarah earned her graduate degree from Boston College in 2011.

Meghan Johnson

CLINICAL SUPERVISOR, EATING DISORDER SPECIALIST

Since 2020 Meghan has been providing clinical services to our clients with co-occurring eating disorders and addiction in both our outpatient and residential treatment programs. Meghan has specialized in treating clients with anxiety, depression and eating disorders and has extensive experience in a variety of treatment settings including inpatient, residential, PHP, IOP and Outpatient. She is trained in CBT and has practice working with the LGBTQ+ population and clients experiencing domestic violence. Meghan’s treatment approach is client centered, trauma responsive and strengths based by assisting clients in connecting to their true selves outside of their substance use and eating disorders. Prior to joining the clinical team at Crossroads, Meghan worked in the Boston area as a counselor with Monte Nido and Affiliates and received her training at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA.

Chelsea Stephenson

OUTPATIENT CLINICIAN

Chelsea joined the Crossroads outpatient clinical team in 2020 to support our clients in our eating disorders IOP as well as seeing clients individually for mental health and substance use disorders. Chelsea is trained in motivational interviewing and mindfulness-based and arts based therapies. Chelsea is available to see clients in need of treatment for anxiety, depression, eating disorders, PTSD and trauma. In 2020 Chelsea received her MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Southern Maine and she is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).

Angela Barbato, LCSW

OUTPATIENT CLINICIAN

With over 12 years experience as a clinician supporting clients with co-occurring disorders, Angela brings a great deal of knowledge to the outpatient clinical team at Crossroads and is a graduate of Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. In addition to seeing clients for one-on-one counseling, Angela runs 2 aftercare groups for women in early recovery. Angela uses her clinical skills to treat clients with depression, anger management, anxiety, family conflict, obsessive compulsive disorder, transgender and women’s issues. Angela is available to see adult men and women in our Greater Portland Counseling Center.
