Outpatient Program
Crossroads offers a number of outpatient counseling services for men of all ages and backgrounds seeking evaluation and / or treatment for substance abuse and emotional health. A gender-specific treatment model is used, where men can focus on learning and coping with substance abuse and mental health issues in a safe and comfortable environment. Treatment services are tailored to each individual, covering topics that specifically impact men and include:
- Comprehensive assessments Crossroads helps men figure out what is going on, be it a mental health or substance abuse concern or both, and then guides them to where they need to be to live healthier. An initial evaluation and assessment of the appropriate level of care is completed with a licensed professional counselor. Psychiatric evaluations are also available to clients, if needed.
- Individual, couples, family and group counseling Clients meet with an individual licensed clinician in therapy sessions to address substance abuse and/or mental health problems. In addition, a number of unique, men-only therapy groups are offered to men in recovery from substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Crossroads’ IOP is a structured group therapy option that provides substance abuse treatment either 3, 4 or 5 days per week at 3 hours a day. Gender-specific treatment issues are explored in this men-only IOP with an emphasis on addiction education, co-occurring mental health issues, coping skills, relapse prevention and the necessary tools for recovery.
- Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Crossroads offers psychiatric evaluations with one of our two consulting psychiatrists, typically when a client is already engaged in treatment with a clinician. When appropriate, Crossroads psychiatrists may prescribe psychiatric and/or anti-craving medications to clients admitted to one of our treatment programs and conduct follow-up visits to monitor the clients. Crossroads for may also collaborate with a client’s personal care physician if a client is getting her medications elsewhere, providing appropriate counseling. Believing that medication management can only be effective with counseling support, Crossroads does not provide medication without treatment.
- DEEP evaluation and treatment Anytime a person receives an OUI (Operating Under the Influence) in the state of Maine, the individual must enter into the Driver Education and Evaluation Programs (DEEP) process of the Impaired Driving Program. Crossroads is DEEP certified to provide evaluation and treatment for men of all ages who receive an OUI. DEEP is administered by the Office of Substance Abuse, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) under the State of Maine Legislature. Find out more about DEEP
